In 2004 the crisis at Yili Group, one of China's leading dairy producers,
is still fresh in many people's memories.
Five top managers, including former chairman Zheng Junhuai, were arrested
on chargest of embezzling public funds, and the business was badly
affected.
But Pan Gang, the 35-year-old president of Yili, has led the company out
of the crisis and achieved record performance in 2005.
During the first nine months this year, the Hohhot-based company recorded
a business turnover of 9.06 billion yuan (US$1.1 billion), 23.28 percent
up on the same period last year.
Its net profit during the period was 250 million yuan (US$30.8 million),
up 20.14 percent year-on-year.
On November 16, 205, Yili was selected as the exclusive dairy products
sponsor for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Pan plans for the company to become one of the world's top 20 dairy
enterprises by 2013.
