The "thousand lamp museum" with a theme of displaying the 5,000-year
illumination history of China was unveiled to the public on the Shiban
Street in Qiandeng (thousand lamps) Town of Suzhou's Kunshan county-level
city on Apr. 30. Visitors can learn about the long illumination history
of mankind from the 1,300-odd ancient lamps and lanterns on display in
the museum. At the same time, the cultural features presented by the lamp
designs and their arts and crafts can reflect the living, political and
social background of the ancient lamps in different ages.
